INRIA and Inéov
Energy optimization in computing and communication infrastructure is a crucial challenge, especially for the future of the Internet. With the boom in broadband usage, ICT energy consumption is rapidly increasing and immediate steps need to be taken to address this trend and mitigate its impact. On Inéov symposium, INRIA wishes to share the progress of its researches in the area of Green IT.
The Research Centre will present the GreenTouch™ initiative, that targets 1000-fold improvement in energy efficiency by transforming Internet and communications networks. The vision of GreenTouch is to create ICT networks and technologies that enable a sustainable Internet, and serve as an open, collaborative platform that allows its members to make best use of their expertise and accelerate the creation of these new networks.
INRIA will also demonstrate a software infrastructure, including technologies to measure, control and monitor energy consumption, based on an experimental distributed platform of 150 knots.
